Surface sampling refers to collecting mold specimens directly from visible contaminated surfaces using sterile swabs or adhesive tape, then sending the sample to a lab to identify the specific mold species present.

Swab and tape-lift sampling are direct collection methods used to identify mold species growing on visible surfaces after water damage or suspected contamination. These methods tell you what mold is actually present on that specific surface.
